Cantiere delle Marche has provided a construction update on its latest explorer yacht, the K42 from Floating Life. As of mid-December, the hull is complete and awaiting verification before painting. Deck structures are almost all in position and onboard systems are starting to be installed.
As a model that can be fully-customised, M/Y K42 allows the client to select a superstructure, interior layout, decor and finish, all in beautiful high-quality.
Designed using a sophisticated hydrodynamic computer program, the K-series hull was tank-tested at Goteborg (SSPA) with positive performance results for the platform.
At a cruising speed of 10 knots, the K42 is capable of a range of 5,000 nautical miles. Once completed, the K42 will have a height of 5.8m/19ft and a draft of 2.8m/9ft when fully loaded. The maximum beam width will be 9.4m/31ft and contain features such as a spacious beach club that can be sound-proofed. Other beneficial design features affecting interior and exterior guest space include a 50m² swim platform that can be extended, while above the 170m² aft deck con be converted into an open-air cinema of a partially-shaded dance floor. For extra visitors, there are two lavish lounges and an alfresco dining table able to seat up to 14.
The 75m² upper deck can be used exclusively by the owner or shared with other guests. The Owner’s suite contains two bathrooms, a salon and an aft-facing private terrace fitted with a Jacuzzi. The helm station and skipper’s quarters are also located on this deck and the bridge has an integrated instrument panel with navigation and communication systems commonly found only on superyachts greater than 60m/197ft.
The main deck is particularly spacious, able to store an 11m tender on the main deck aft and a 6m tender, jet ski and SUV on the foredeck. Inside, the layout provides two guest cabins both with en-suite facilities.
The lower deck holds two double cabins and the crew accommodation, while the tank deck below is fitted with a considerable engine room, storage space, night generator and a control room. A laundry, wine cellar and cold storage complete the facilities.
