All visitors to the upcoming 53rd Genoa International Boat Show will receive a special welcome to the city, thanks to the “Enjoy Genoa Pass”, which is also the entrance ticket to the show itself. Salone Nautico Internazionale di Genova will be held from 2 − 6 October, 2013.
For the entire month of October, the ticket to the Boat Show, will give visitors discounts and special offers to visit museums and exhibitions, participate in events, go shopping and eat in restaurants or cafes. Those who wish, can return to Genoa during the Christmas period, from 1 to 29 December, and receive a 10 to 15 percent discount on hotels.
This project was strongly supported by the city of Genoa and its Assessor for Culture and Tourism, Carla Sibilla, together with the Fiera di Genova, UCINA and the Chamber of Commerce. It also received strong support and active participation from local businesses.
“At the moment, over 250 shops, cafes and restaurants from Genoa to the Tigullio area have adhered to the project – notes the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Paolo Odone – and, thanks to the networking of other local associations, we hope that the numbers will increase over the weekend. Among the business sectors with the highest participation are: clothing, opticians and perfume shops, as well as cafes, restaurants, ice cream shops, and some markets. There is also the hotel industry, offering return guests in December a 10 to 15 percent discount; as well as the CIVs (Centri Integrati di Via), who are very excited about their participation with various events, as part of Genova in Blu. An excellent response from Genoese entrepreneurs who believe in the new boat show and want to participate in its relaunching.”
Exhibition areas that have adhered to the initiative are: Palazzo Ducale with its exhibit on Robert Doisneau, “Paris en liberté”, the Genoa Aquarium, newly renovated and expanded, the Musei Civici, Galata and Luzzati, Palazzo San Giorgio with its exhibit “Transatlantico REX, il Mito e la Memoria” extended from 30 September to 12 October, just for the Salone, Villa Croce, and the theatres Carlo Felice, Tosse and Stabile, the cinemas belonging to Genovacentro and The Space Cinema, the visits to the historical centre and the Palazzi dei Rolli as well as Wow – Genoa Science Center.
The list of businesses/associations participating in Enjoy Genoa Pass will soon be posted on the show’s website.
“In the face of a shorter Salone Nautico – says Carla Sibilla, assessor to Culture and Tourism for the Municipality of Genoa –, we want to offer exhibitors and visitors the chance to return to Genoa or stay a little longer, taking advantage of numerous discounts in order to enjoy the beauty the city has to offer, its treasures and culture, the Palazzi dei Rolli, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the historical centre, the historical shops, and the various museums, Palazzo Ducale, the theatres and, for families with children, the Genoa
Aquarium, with its new dolphin tank. The extension of the validity of the Enjoy Genova Pass to the end of October – continues Carla Sibilla – is an invitation, for those coming to Genoa for the Salone Nautico, but might not have to time to visit the city, to come back and enjoy it.”
The co-organizers of the Salone Nautico Internazionale di Genova, Sara Armella for Fiera di Genova and Anton Francesco Albertoni for UCINA, agree: “It is a strong signal from the city institutions to generously welcome visitors to what remains the most important international event in Genoa. It is a confirmation that the work done with the Municipality of Genoa, to highlight and extend the public’s stay in this increasingly international city, has been a success”.
