Tickets the 2014 Gold Coast International Marine Expo, running from October 17-19, are now available online. With almost all exhibitor space now sold, this year’s massive display of ‘all things aquatic’ is undoubtedly shaping up as the biggest and best yet.
Now in its fourth year, Australia’s only ‘Working Boat Show’ has cemented itself as one of the key events on the marine industry calendar, with strong demand for exhibitor space prompting organisers to expand the Expo site and confirming the extensive range of products and services that will be on offer.
Event & Marketing Manager Emma Milne said last year’s event attracted 21,000 people so online ticketing was an ideal option for savvy people to jump to the front of the queue.
“The opportunity to pre-purchase tickets online is something we felt people would appreciate, especially as we have introduced a nominal cover charge to assist with growing Expo as ‘an event by the marine industry, for the marine industry’ … and to help raise money for our beneficiary charities,” Ms Milne said.
“We’ve also been able to secure a great prize for those who do jump online early and secure their tickets – a Sirocco Alloy RIB with a 5hp Honda 4-stroke outboard.
“These inflatable boats are great runabouts and tenders and open up a whole world of fun on the water – they have performance, stability and safety, matched with the lighter weight of an alloy hull. Our thanks go to Sirocco Marine North for their ongoing support for Expo.”
Ms Milne said Expo is a massive 3km-long circuit featuring everything from kayaks to super yachts, fishing equipment to jet skis … and everything in between.
“The ticket price of $8 for adults and $5 for seniors is great value, especially when everything you need to get afloat this summer is all in one place,” she said, adding that children under the age of 15 years will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult,” she said.
Expo volunteer Jane Howe said the event offered something for the whole family … “not just the men”.
“You get a chance to see everything, not just the big super-yachts to see how the other half lives, but also practical things for our own smaller boat,” said Mrs Howe, from beneficiary charity the Rotary Club of Coomera River. “It certainly suited us – it was really family-oriented and a great day out for adults and children.
“There’s so much to see and do without over-stretching the budget – and the shuttle bus was an excellent idea!”
The not-for-profit Expo – at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct in Coomera – will again have free on-site parking and children under the age of 15 years will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The shuttle bus ferries people from the parking to the entry points.
This year’s Expo will also feature a huge range of live attractions and demonstrations every 15 minutes, including an amazing extreme high-diving show as well as a number of world and Australian releases for exciting new models and products.
“It really is going to be a whole lot of fun,” said Ms Milne. “We are still finalising the list of new product releases but it’s already very impressive”.
