A Yachtsman’s paradise

Trinidad & Tobago is a yachtsman-friendly location. Located south of the hurricane belt, Trinidad boasts high quality workmanship and excellent support services, making it a yachtsman’s safety paradise. Chaguarama’s sheltered harbours have turned it into a Yacht City, with marinas, boatyards, support services and contractors all conveniently in one location.

Whether you are looking for adventurous watersports or to simply sink your feet into white sands, shallow bays and calm blue waters, Trinidad & Tobago can cater to all visitors looking for a taste of the ‘True Caribbean’. Visitors can rub shoulders with locals who delight in sharing their culture, stories and the beauty of their islands, try a spot of sailing on the calm waters, or some of the many watersports activities on offer.

Carnival Regatta

The annual Tobago carnival regatta is the place to be for the best watersports and paradise for thrill seekers. The event will be held from February 18 -20th  2011, and will have an exciting range of activities available including bum boat racing, kite boarding and wind surfing.

For avid ‘big boat racers’, The big boat (Cruiser) racing will be held in Trinidad between February 10-13th, 2011 and a traditional Trinidad carnival party will be held the evening of Saturday February 12.

Kayaking

Protected by the Buccoo Reef, the calming waters of Tobago’s Buccoo Bay provide the perfect area for kayaking. With only gentle swells, visitors need not contend with large waves, ocean swells and unpredictable sea current. Chaguaramas, on the western peninsula and Godineau River in south Trinidad offer a year round kayaking opportunity.

Diving

The rich and colourful water reefs around Tobago makes the destination one of the Caribbean’s finest diving locations. With more than 300 different species of coral, including staghorn, elkhorn, fire coral, giant tube sponges and starlet coral, divers will have the unique opportunity to discover a veritable underwater Garden of Eden. During the months of March to July, Manta Reef is the place to see giant rays, although divers also encounter dolphins and marine turtles.
