UK based Contechs Marine is showcasing its newest interior design project at this year’s Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show. The global bespoke interior and exterior yacht specialist has outfitted the first Fairline Targa 50 GRAN TURISMO, which is making its world launch at the Show.

The interior has been carried out under the supervision of Marie Pope, Chief Interior Designer at Fairline Boats and is the first time that the company has worked with an external yacht interior specialist.
Peter Jarvis, Owner and Managing Director of Contechs Marine says: “This has been an exciting first project with Fairline Boats for my interior design specifications team. We are familiar with bespoke design that suits the environment within which it operates and for over ten years we have been providing the interior designs for the likes of Bentley and Jaguar so we are quite at home with providing excellence of the highest calibre.”
Peter continues: “Using Fairline’s own designs, we worked with them to source the best quality and craftsmanship of soft furnishings, designed for their specific application. We were able to fast track and compress design and manufacturing lead times into Fairline’s production lines due to the array of CAD and 3D scanning devices we use. The attention to detail is embedded in every product we design and manufacture, with every product inspected to the highest levels of fit and superior finish standards.”
Marie Pope is involved in all the design aspects of boat interiors and the soft furnishing selections available to owners at Fairline and comments on the project: “As a company Fairline always looks for the most time and cost-efficient solutions whilst providing a luxuriously specified product for our customers. In this case we recognised that Contechs Marine was able to offer us a host of expertise that together with our own designs would provide the perfect solution for our newest Targa model. The heritage and breadth of skill and knowledge that Contechs Marine holds within the luxury automotive environment can only be a beneficial addition to our own in-house skills.”

The company worked on a consultation basis with Fairline to ensure that the boatbuilder’s fabric and upholstery ideas and requirements were executed to the high standards that Fairline has become renowned. Contechs Marine supplied various interior and exterior features, including mattresses to headboards and handrails to sunbathers. The following design solutions were also brought to fruition:
– NEW CHAISE-LONGUE
Based on a design from the Fairline design team, Contechs Marine custom-made foam with a soft middle where the body lays and a hard exterior shaping to give support to the arms, creating an ergonomic chaise-longue for an almost floating-in-the-air feeling.
– NEW HELM SEAT
Contechs Marine worked together with the Fairline designers to create a new helm seat with backrest. Taking into consideration the environment and the frequent usage of the helm area, textured Majilite Brown luxury faux leather was used to create a comfortable and durable seat with resistance against tearing. A complementary Novasuede(T) Brown perforated fabric covers the helm seat frame for a luxurious yet durable finish. Complex twin stitching has been incorporated and couples design with durability for a more finished look.
In addition to this latest interior design project, Contechs Marine is also supplying soft furnishings to Fairline Boats. The soft furnishings include curtains, bedspreads, bed scarves, scatter cushions, and will be seen across the entire Fairline fleet.
