Ultrasonic Antifouling – the world’s leading electronic antifouling brand – was nominated for an environmental award ahead of the Southampton Boat Show. Highly respected magazine Practical Boat Owner listed the revolutionary and eco-friendly Ultrasonic Antifouling system as a finalist in the Best Product category of its PBO Green Awards. The nomination as a marine product that promotes sustainable boating highlights Ultrasonic Antifouling’s role in providing chemical-free antifouling for power boats and sailing boats all over the world.
Ultrasonic Antifouling uses high frequency, low power sound waves to keep boat hulls clear of algae and barnacles. It is harmless to marine life and helps boat owners to significantly cut fuel bills and maintain hull speeds all season long.
Ultrasonic Antifouling is the world’s best green antifouling technology, the choice of marine professionals including coastguard agencies and the military units across the globe.
Marine organisations and boat owners have quickly realised the benefits that Ultrasonic Antifouling offers in reducing the costly and time-consuming lift-outs associated with antifouling removal.
Ultrasonic Antifouling’s award nomination came just weeks before its showcase at the UK’s Southampton Boat Show, September 10-19.
Ultrasonic Antifouling technology will be demonstrated at the show on Calypso, a new greener version of the iconic Contessa 32 synonymous with legendary yachtsman Jeremy Rogers MBE.
Mr Rogers and his son Kit have fitted out Calypso with Ultrasonic Antifouling, a hybrid engine, solar panels, wind turbines, fuel cell technology plus a whole range of other energy-efficient products.
Reigning Contessa 32 champion Jeremy Rogers is the only person ever to have won the coveted Gold Roman Bowl in The Round-The-Island Race three times in the same boat. He was Yachtsman of the Year in 1974 and received his MBE for services to yachting.
Calypso will be moored at berth number M502, on display in association with The Green Blue, an RYA/BMF initiative to improve environmental awareness among boating enthusiasts.
Mr Rogers said: “After nearly 50 years in the industry it’s been great to discover so many innovative and exciting products out there. It really has been a fascinating journey and I hope this will start a bit of a green revolution in the industry.”
Ultrasonic Antifouling is vastly superior to the other sonic antifouling products that have attempted to follow in its wake:
- The Ultra System uses just one boat antifouling transducer for vessels up to 10 metres and only two for boats up to 20 metres. Other systems use many more transducers.
- It is smaller and lighter, taking up less space and consuming less AC and DC power than its rivals.
- Ultra’s sound waves have specifically been set at 20 to 140kHz so not to interfere with depth sounders which quite commonly use a frequency of 200kHz.
- The Ultra system is neat, unobtrusive and can be easily self-installed. No through-hull drilling is required. Other systems have to be installed by a specifically trained engineer at extra cost or owners risk negating the warranty. Ultra’s warranty stands whoever fits it.
- For added reassurance, Ultrasonic Antifouling offers a global network of approved installation centres to help boat owners maximise the performance of their Ultra systems.
Best of all are the new lower prices. Due to increased demand for Ultra systems, production has increased – leading to greater economies of scale. Ultrasonic Antifouling has been passing these savings on to customers by cutting prices by about 10 per cent.Ultrasonic Antifouling is proud to say that its units come out on top every time in performance and price. Its confidence is reflected by the two-year warranty that every Ultra system carries – considerably longer than other market rivals.
Ultrasonic Antifouling Director David Sothcott said: “We are extremely proud to have been recognised in the Green Awards, as it clearly highlights that we have the best antifouling product when it comes to promoting sustainable boating. This has always been one of our aims since the start.”
Mr Sothcott and members of his team will be demonstrating their world-class ultrasonic antifoul on Stand G004 at the Southampton Boat Show.
