Austrian company Silent Yachts has announced that its new solar-electric luxury catamaran SILENT 60 has already sold six units, the first of which is due to be launched Summer 2020.
The SILENT 60 is designed by Albert Nazarov to replace the bestselling luxury catamaran SILENT 55, offering a greater length and beam that translates into even more space on board. The starting price of the SILENT 60 luxury catamaran is €1.97 million, and the latest model has a high-performance hull form with a longer waterline and reverse bow.
A shaded alfresco dining and lounging area is to the aft of the main deck, with access to the sea down the hulls or on the hydraulic swim platform. Another sofa can be found on the foredeck and the flybridge is furnished with sofas and tables for casual outdoor living with the benefit of elevated views.
The design has a band of windows going around the outside for plenty of natural lighting to the interior. The sides have little nooks that hold a sofa/sunbed shaded by the overhang.
Notable features of the series include:
- Environmentally friendly – no vibrations or fumes
- Silent solar-powered propulsion and household with electric propulsion
- A drive-train and household supply virtually maintenance-free
- Completely self-sufficient – Unlimited cruising range without the need to burn fuel, with a cruising range of 100 nautical miles a day, and
- Only in rare cases is the generator used to recharge the batteries
A pair of 250 kW electric motors give a top speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 6-8 knots. A draft of only 0.93m/3ft makes the SILENT 60 perfect for accessing shallow waterways and secluded bays.
Michael Köhler, Founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts said of the new SILENT 60 luxury catamaran:
“The SILENT 60 is a true world cruiser: We updated our most popular model and now she resembles the flagship SILENT 80. I’m happy to confirm we’ve already sold six units of the new SILENT 60 even before the official presentation, which is a tremendous success. They are now under construction.”
