After another great summer season of Europe‘s key boat shows, including Cannes Yachting Festival, Southampton Boat Show, Monaco Yacht Show, as well as Genoa Boat Show, the attention of superyacht industry now turns to South East Asia.
First up is the Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show in Pattaya, Thailand, from November 26 to 29, with the first edition of the eagerly awaited Malaysia Yacht Show to be hosted by Port Dickson in Malaysia from November 27 to 29, as well as South East Asia’s longest running show, Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX), set to run at Royal Phuket Marina from January 7 to 10, 2016.
Thirteen years on and the Phuket International Boat Show has become a key fixture on the region’s marine calendar.
“We’ve seen a lot of change in Thailand and the region since we launched the Phuket International Boat Show in 2003,” commented Mr. Andrew Dowden, Managing Director of Andaman Marine Consultants, organiser of the Phuket International Boat Show. “The region has opened considerably. Cruising grounds are more accessible and sailing across borders has become much easier. This and the relative untouched nature of the cruising grounds in this area is tempting more boats of all sizes from Europe and the Caribbean to Asia.”
Phuket in particular has become increasingly popular over the last 13 plus years, and is today the playground of Asia. It is the place where owners both come to cruise and base their private and charter yachts, so they benefit from the hundreds of fabulous islands surrounding Phuket.
Equally popular is the local regatta scene and the fantastic lifestyle facilities that the Island has to offer.
“International standard marinas, world-class marine infrastructure and services, some of the region’s best regattas such as the Bay Regatta, Phuket Raceweek, Phuket King’s Cup and the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous, all of these ensure there is something for everyone in and around Phuket,” added Dowden.
Aware of the potential of Phuket many years ago, Phuket International Boat Show organisers have helped promote Phuket’s marine industry to all corners of the world and continue to support its growth.
The 2016 PIMEX is once again expected to host exhibitors from the region and further afield, including boat dealers, brokerages, superyacht charter companies, marine products, water sports, luxury properties, as well as lifestyle products and services.
