Originally launched by the Chinese shipyard Cheoy Lee in 2007, the 147′ Marco Polo expedition yacht Dorothea 3 underwent a major refit at Derecktor of Florida, which was completed in December 2012. Since then, motor yacht Dorothea 3 has been enjoying a spectacular world cruise.
Captain John Crupi has been kind enough to stay in touch so that Derecktor of Florida can now share with us this great news:
“All is well here on D3. We have departed Australia and have passed thru the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and are currently in route to Indonesia. We are putting on the miles, just over 18,000 last year and this year will top that for sure! I’ll be in Singapore the end of April ’14, estimating Japan in late June and across to Alaska in July. After that it’s down hill to Panama and back to Ft Lauderdale in the spring of ’15. Jen and I had a great Aussie vacation. We took a month and saw all there is to see from Ayers Rock, the Reef, Outback etc. It’s been a wonderful year.” Captain John Crupi.
“I wanted to let you know we are nearing 50,000 miles on the odometer since leaving the yard. Wow! We were sitting around thinking about how many countries we have visited as well as miles traveled. We counted twice and the number was 51! Anyway I just wanted to tell you and the rest of the team thank you. You have a lot to be proud of – I don’t think many boats rack up this sort of mileage and I attribute a lot of the success to Dereckor’s team. Keep in touch…currently 225 miles from Singapore!” – Captain John Crupi.
