Launched in 2005 and drawing on the vast experience of their sister shipyard Varadero Palma, by 2008 Varadero Valencia had already become a benchmark Mediterranean refit and repair yard for superyachts.
Top tier facilities and an expert team, quality customer service as well as proximity to the Balearic Islands make Varadero Valencia a prestigious superyacht refit yard. 2011 has been a busy year for the superyacht repair yard and they have completed works on several superyachts including Vitters sailing yacht MARIPOSA 3a and the classic Jongert Ketch Baltic Dreams.
The Vitters sailing sloop MARIPOSA 3a receivied a refit at the Varadero Valencia yard. Work included the replacement of the superstructure including both sides and the main door that was originally built in teak. After the rebuild, the yacht was varnished with high quality spray.
Mariposa 3a’s hull was built in aluminum and required a repaint of the hull which Varadero Valencia completed with Awlgrip paint. The cabin and cockpit were painted in white, and the hull in a dark navy blue.
The paint work was done in a custom yacht cover built by Varadero Valencia yacht covers division. A full check of the MTU engines and the Kolher generator was also carried out.
S/Y MARIPOSA 3a is a unique classic designed yacht in a style reminiscent of the great racing yachts and the romance of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Her beautiful lines, the classic sheer and deck house profile, are married to a modern hull shape and highly developed keel design, which create a fast and seaworthy vessel, capable of world-wide cruising in any weather.
Another sailing yacht refitted by the Valencia shipyard was the Jongert sailing yacht Baltic Dreams. The Owner of the ketch wanted to paint the hull and the super-structure, mast and booms as well as review and change the rigging.
The first step was to take out the main mast and mizzen mast with a specialist rigger and with a crane. Once the two masts and booms were laid at ground level, the riggers dismounted all the pieces at the same time Varadero Valencia´s team were building a tent which measured 40 meters to cover the mast and booms. The Baltic Dreams yacht was placed on a cradle on the hard and another tent was built to cover her during her paint which as also done with Awlgrip paint.
Varadero Valencia wanted to give special thanks to Mr. Hans Berg, Chief service Engineer from Jongert, who supervised the work carried by Varadero Valencia and he was working on rudder service together with Varadero Valencia.
