Doyle-powered sailing yacht Bella Mente continued on her amazing race campaign, reaching another regatta victory by placing first in the MiniMaxi class at the GAASTRA Palmavela, running from May 1 to 5, 2013. Doyle-powered yacht Shockwave also performed well, taking fourth place.
Luxury yacht Bella Mente started the regatta as she meant to go on, taking first place in Race One and performing consistently throughout the event. At the close of the penultimate day she sat in second place by just half a point, but took back her lead after the final coastal race of the regatta to claim victory.
“Palmavela was a great event for Bella Mente: it was the start of our 2013 European campaign and so we had a new mast, new rudder and a bunch of new sails as well,” said Mike Sanderson, Head of Sales at Doyle New Zealand. “Bella is one of the few programs that Doyle and North work together on: normally we go head to head but here we have top people from both companies involved and we are there to do the best for the Bella team. It works well, there is no doubt that we push each other to get the very best for the program. It was very satisfying to come away with a win.”
