After her launch in 2016, 106m/348ft sailing yacht BLACK PEARL from Oceanco gained much attention for her striking appearance: Fitted with the iconic Dyna-rig from Dykstra Naval Architects, she bears a striking resemblance to 88m/289ft superyacht MALTESE FALCON, which won no fewer than 10 awards following her debut in 2006.
Now, a video has emerged detailing the innovative engineering feats that push S/Y BLACK PEARL above and beyond her Perini Navi counterpart, improving on the structure of the masts and providing the vital information for one of the world’s largest and most important sailing yachts. Among her many innovative features is the ‘regeneration mode’ which allows her to carry out long voyages without consuming any fuel.
“Prediction is that with the right wind and the right sea, we could reach 30 knots and with the regeneration under sail we’re predicting that we can do Transatlantic [journeys]; no fuel use.”
Styled by Nuvolari & Lenard, the video showcases the exterior detailing and high quality finish around the pilot house and Jacuzzi.
Although S/Y BLACK PEARL is not available for charter, S/Y MALTESE FALCON is preparing for the winter season in the Caribbean and Bahamas. Contact CharterWorld for more information and to secure your preferred dates over the busy festive season.
