As the 80.7m/264.7ft luxury yacht PROJECT COSMOS from Heesen continues to develop on target for her April 2022 delivery date, the Dutch shipyard has released two videos showing the tank and propeller tests for this prestigious vessel.
The proof-of-concept was developed in several stages that began with the development of the naval architecture from Van Oossanen Naval Architects, with design and engineering completed by the Heesen in-house team. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) work and a scale model for physical tank testing produced the design of the propellers and rudder system, which have been developed by propeller specialists Rolls-Royce.
The all-aluminium superyacht uses the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) and is designed with advanced propulsion systems for a new generation of powerful large aluminium yachts: Quadruple MTU 20V4000 M73L engines ensure a top speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed over 20 knots.
PROJECT COSMOS follows on from several critically acclaimed vessels from Heesen in recent years, including superyachts GALACTICA STAR, GALACTICA SUPERNOVA and HOME.
The keel-laying ceremony for PROJECT COSMOS is set to take place this May.
