Vilamoura Marina was awarded the Best Marina in Portugal at the BTL Portugal Trade Awards 2011, organised by Publituris. The awards ceremony was held in combination with a gala dinner in the FIL Pavilion in Lisbon, Portugal. During the awards, some of the best businesses, institutions, and professionals from fifteen various Portugal tourism groups were honoured.

This award acknowledges the continuing investment that has existed since the marina opened in 1972. During the last five years, Vilamoura Marinas’ management has invested great efforts to enhance the infrastructure of the marina and to teach the marina’s workers. This is being done with the hopes of providing a “service of excellence.” The system for managing quality, implemented in 2004, has been an important tool for monitoring this continuous strive for improvement, which is well demonstrated through the attribution by this system of the International Norm ISO 9001 certificate, granted by the SGS-ICS.
The Marina boasts an average annual occupancy rate of 80% and a 95% client’s satisfaction rate. It also can claim a five-anchor rating in addition to a blue-flag award, proving that the Marina has a premium environmental capacity. Overall, the Vilamoura Marina has managed to respond, with success, to the demands of a market in constant change, standing out not only as a nautical destination but also as an important regional and national tourism reference.
