The Wally 164 sailing yacht Better Place is ready to be launched in Ancona, Italy, following the recent successful stepping of her 67.5 meters long carbon mast by Hall Spars. The Better Place superyacht boasts the longest mast ever developed by the US facility.
The exclusive 50m superyacht Better Place has been equipped with a four-spreader high modulus carbon mast, a Hall Oceanfurl boom – also the largest ever built by Hall, delivered by the New Zealand factory – and a unique mast collar to support all halyards and sheets.
Mounted on the spreaders stand 18 antennas for the ultimate monitoring and navigation systems. The mast stepping, carefully planned and supervised by Hall Med’s manager Andrea Merani, was smooth and neat, even if, with the boat on the hard, it was necessary to hoist the mast butt 12 meters high to feed the mast collar on the deck. Shroud loads on this kind of mast can reach up to 90 tons each!
