This year’s Queen’s Award for the Enterprise 2010 in the International trade category went to the UK based jet tender company, Williams Performance Tenders. The presentation took place at the Williams’ Oxfordshire located factory and the award was presented by the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Mr John Harwood. The presentation was then followed by a reception for those specially invited to celebrate the wonderful occasion. Amongst the attending guests were Mr John Howell, MP for Henley, Councillor Mike Welply, Chairman of South Oxfordshire District Council, and Councillor for Berinsfield Mr John Cotton.
This is the first time the company has received the prestigious award, which honours outstanding UK companies. Accomplishments considered by the judging panel when bestowing this accolade on Williams include growing its export sales over the last three years, and increased overseas distribution.
Joint-Managing Director, Mathew Hornsby, commented: “It was an honour for us to be presented with this important award. We are hugely proud of our team and the work that has gone into achieving this recognition, so it was great to be able to celebrate with them at our official presentation ceremony.”
“We have been delighted with the continued growth and success we’ve seen over the past three years and are now looking forward to building on this and our Queen’s Award achievement in the future.”
All of Williams’ factory staff were presented with a specially engraved decanter by joint managing directors Mathew and John Hornsby to mark the occasion. A special presentation was also made to Stuart Ely, owner of Williams’ test lake, who has been instrumental in helping the company become the success it is today.
Award-winning Williams Performance Tenders is owned by local brothers, Mathew and John Hornsby and business partner Roy Parker. The entrepreneurs founded the company in 2004 and have experienced astounding success, with their high-quality performance tenders being demanded by discerning boat owners throughout the world. The winning of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2010 comes as the company celebrates its 6th year in business, and confirms its position as the world’s leading jet tender specialist – and a proud British company.
