Launched last spring, the 31 Zonda built by Windy Boats excites and electrifies the senses. Featuring clean striking lines with a no compromise performance hull, the 31 Zonda boat breaks new ground in high-performance day-cruising. She is a beautiful fast weekender which combines the exhilarating and uncompromising performance of a sportsboat with the creature comforts of a larger cruiser.
Powered by single or twin sterndrive installations, up to a maximum of 640hp, the hull is capable of sustained high speed cruising, combining fearsome wave-tackling abilities with superb handling and control.
The deep V hull and precision tracking at high speed means that the helmsman is constantly enthralled by the control and poise the Zonda, satisfying even the most ardent enthusiast.
The interior styling was conceived by acclaimed yacht and private jet interior designers, Eidsgaard Design (EDL), and the quality in the construction and fittings is self evident, from the luxurious finish in the double berth cabin and galley area to the folding cockpit canopy, which is designed to be as effortless as possible to put up, and unobtrusive when stowed.
“I really think it’s one of the most beautiful boats Hans Jørgen Johnsen has ever designed for us,” comments Windy CEO Knut Heiberg-Andersen. “It’s sleek, functional and seductive; a lowprofile weekender which harks back to the glory days of the deepvee hull, whilst breaking new ground in high-performance cruising.”
Windy 31 Zonda has been shortlisted for the ´Best New Boat´ in the ´Sportscruisers below 45ft´ category of the ´2012 Motor Boat of the Year Awards´. The winner will be announced on 9 January at the 2012 London Boat Show (6-15 January).
This is the second major award nomination for the 31 Zonda, described by a leading UK yachting title as having “the best hull we have ever tested.” The Zonda is also nominated for the 2012 ‘European Powerboat of the Year Awards’, to be announced at the 2012 Düsseldorf International Boat Show (21–29 January).
Windy has a strong track record in the prestigious European Powerboat of the Year Awards. In 2009 its 44 Chinook hard-top sports cruiser was named ‘European Powerboat of the Year’ in the under 50ft category, while in 2006 the Windy 32 Grand Tornado took top honours in the under 40ft category.
