To appeal to a broader spectrum of visitors and involve the growing number of women in the marine industry, the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2011 program, known as ´Women on Water´ initiated plenty of new ideas dedicated to ladies only.
These ancillary events were aimed at making boating fun and female-friendly. The program kicked off with an invitation-only ladies’ lunch, featuring key note speaker Carla Demaria, President of Monte Carlo Yachts and Board member of Beneteau, to lend her charisma and clout to the occasion.
On her first visit to Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show – a coup for the boat show team – Carla commented at the industry breakfast and in interviews with the media that Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show “could hold its place in the top level trade and consumer shows” she had experienced in her 30 years in the marine industry.
Other activities included skipper training, fashion parades and the exceptionally popular “High Tea on the High Seas” which conveyed the camaraderie and fresh air and sunshine unique to the boating lifestyle to a new segment of prospective customers.
The rationale behind the Women on Water program is in line with boat shows and other major events the world over who acknowledge this fact: 80% of household spending is determined by women – including mortgage lenders, health funds, clothing, restaurants and discretionary spend on holidays, cars and yachts.
For 2012, women will be well catered to, with a host of fabulous events in the pipeline, all marine-themed and created to deliver a snapshot of the boating lifestyle to these discerning consumers and inspire them to bring their families and friends to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
