Jet-Tern Marine, the Chinese partner of Guido de Groot Design in the Netherlands, commenced engineering work on the new Selene 78 Ocean Explorer yacht several months ago. The partnership has already produced the mould for the first motor yacht Selene 78 Ocean Explorer. This represents a landmark moment as the yacht is the first Selene 78 from Selene Yachts’ Ocean Explorer line. In addition to the Selene 78, Jet-Tern Marine is also presently working on the new superyacht Selene 92 Ocean Explorer.
The new Selene 78 yacht is being built for a North American customer and is slated for delivery in the summer of 2015. Her extensive range and stylish interior make this trawler yacht ideal for long voyages in luxury and comfort.
The first Selene 78 Ocean Explorer yacht has a length of almost 24 metres and a beam of 6.50 metres. Her volume is greater than many yachts of a similar length thanks to the round bilge and deep hull form and her cruiser stern. These features are also responsible for the yacht’s excellent seagoing sailing properties and relatively low fuel consumption.
This exceptional volume also ensures plenty of living and sleeping space on board. The cabins are all very spacious, as are the saloon, galley and wheelhouse. The comfort of the flybridge and sundeck is unprecedented for this class, and complemented by luxurious seating on the foredeck as well as a large dining area on the aft deck.
The future owners of a Selene Ocean Explorer will have a great deal of freedom when it comes to the layout and styling of the interior and the exterior. The yachts are semi-custom built, giving clients the ability to attune their new yacht precisely to their personal tastes.
