This year’s Genoa Boat Show saw the premiere of the innovative project – “Yacht Art”, presented by Pershing, brand of the Ferretti Group. One of the top international builders of high performance open motor yachts, varying in size from 15 to 35 metres, anticipates once again a new tendency with “the engine of your ideas”.
Ideas result from thought and imagination and sprout from intuition, calculation and talent. They transform, write the future and change. Once implemented, they bring about feelings, shivers. Pershing has always provided beauty, innovation and sensations and now they have been changed into art.
The first project, based on thought, is shown in an artistic video which involves the latest jewel of the fleet: motor yacht Pershing 82′.
Pershing 82′ superyacht represents technology, class and power. With her iconic design, she is a yacht which was created to offer top sailing, while ensuring excellent performance. This was the first yacht on which visual art was experimented: the sea acting as a canvas on which the boat paints just like an excellent brush.
In the darkness of the night Pershing 82′ yacht moves and leaves an illuminated wake and, with a camera set with a 30 minute exposure, one can capture the words written by the yacht: thrill, idea, fast, cool.
The coloured photographs exhibited at the Genoa Boat Show, together with a back stage video, show the way this first experiment of visual art at sea was carried out.
The exhibition, inaugurated on 8th October at the Pershing lounge, will remain open for public viewing throughout the Genoa Boat Show.
Gianpaolo Sacchini, Communications Director of the Ferretti Group, highlights the importance of the project, “To speak of art to those who do not have to deal with it on daily basis, is always difficult. Therefore, I would like to refer to this initiative in its entirety, highlighting its innovative course. Our objective is that of taking the Yacht Art all over the world and receiving feedback from our owners, especially those who are fond of the Pershing brand when it comes to the creativity and originality of the activity in which we believe strongly. Indeed this is the drive of our advertising campaign and, above all, of this specific project, which is as up-to-date as are boats are.”
Piero Addis, artist and exhibition curator, points out the innovative aspect of the project: “Yacht Art….words and imagines, a relationship that has given life to the most reckless expressive forms, providing an original innovative contribution both for visual art and the more traditional literary and artistic written text and poetry. From Futurism to Dadaism, from Surrealism to the contemporary, the word is the fundamental trait for historical avant-garde experimentation. Yacht Art confirms the interdisciplinary of languages, a pure manifestation of artistic gestures where signs, script and graffiti in the sea become pictorial suggestions that are full of energy”.
True to the brand’s DNA, every year Pershing promises to present new projects to its public providing new innovative ideas of which “Yacht Art” will be the first of a long succession.
The project was developed by the collaboration of the TBWA\Italia Group that took care of the event and the international communication campaign.
