Italy, one of the most popular yachting destinations, is set to open up its borders for the summer private yacht charter arrangements to go ahead.
The Italian nautical industry is currently working on the new regulations to make sure yacht charters can go ahead as normal. It is believed that travellers from the EU will be able to enter the country without going into a two-week quarantine. However, marinas will follow mandatory safety measures, such as social distancing of 1 metre, no gatherings, installation and use of disinfectants, appropriate sanitisation of public places.
A successful yachting summer season is expected in the superyacht industry, as yacht charters are now considered to be the best option for holidays in summer 2020. Yachts offer social distancing travelling in a group, which is similar to isolating within your bubble while onshore. They are also maintained to the highest standards of hygiene with crew members ensuring all areas onboard are clean. What is more, the crew stay on board and don’t travel home, which means less contact with others. A chef on board can prepare culinary delights compared to the best Michelin star restaurants. Flexible itineraries and amazing amenities on superyacht provide guests with opportunities to avoid crowds and thoroughly enjoy the time with loved ones aboard. Add to that amazing selection of water toys, on deck Jacuzzis, outdoor cinemas and helipads, and your holidays can be truly luxurious.
The Italian government announced on May 18, 2020, that all commercial and production activities could resume under the new regulations for sanitisation, social distancing and gatherings.
It is expected that residents of the EU and Schengen zone will be chartering close to home in summer 2020. With that in mind, it is worth to include Italy on the list of yachting destinations to visit. You can view Italy yacht charter itineraries here and view the full guide here.
