41 Marina Industry delegates, including the new BMF President Alan Morgan, met in the Norfolk Broads on the 7 July to see the spectrum of marina developments which service an incredible 12,331 boats. This event is organised by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) and each year members are invited to tour around significant marine hotspots. This trip was an opportunity to highlight the importance of the Broads to the marine and tourist industry and included visits to Landamores, who builds the exclusive Oyster Yacht, and the extremely innovative Goodchild Marine who has an international reputation for commercial boat building.
The group saw a contrast of facilities and the use of the Gold Anchor Award Scheme throughout the waterways to distinguish Marinas which offer high standards to their customers. These included Eastwood Marina and Waveney River Centre, both of which have been awarded 4 Gold Anchors, and the exceptional 5 Gold Anchor Lowestoft Yacht Haven. Ferry Marine is also working towards its accreditation and hopes to become another Gold Anchor awarded marine in East Anglia
As well as demonstrating the significant impact the Norfolk Broads has on the marine industry the trip represented an opportunity for marina developers, key service providers and navigation authorities to meet and develop their working relationships.
TYHA wishes to thank all those who contributed to the event and those who hosted some superb tours of their facilities. Let’s look forward to the next event.
