Naval design company 2pixel studio has announced today two very interesting projects ongoing under their supervision.
First one of them is an ex Yugoslav ship NIHTO. She is a 17 metre yacht built in 1961 by a shipyard in Mali Loöinj, following the example of the fast commuters of that era. Today’s National Park of Brijuni and the then residence of Marshal Tito was her home port.
The second of the ships comes from ex Yugoslavia as well. The vessel is a 59 metre ex command ship called VIS and she was constructed at Uljanik shipyard in Pula, in Croatia in 1956. VIS was used as a command vessel, created to serve as the elite staff officers’ ship of the Yugoslav Navy. She was often used by the president of Yugoslavia, Tito.
VIS yacht is very unique. She is designed and manufactured as a luxury yacht, meeting the extremely high standards of final elaboration. She measures 59 metres in length over all and has a beam of 8.7 metres, with a draft of 3 metres. Her displacement is 670 tons. VIS is powered by two 1000 hp engines each, with three additional supporting aggregates. Her hull is constructed of the best quality steel, and the deck is made of aluminium. All her decks are covered with 6cm thick teak wood of top quality.
This interesting yacht VIS features two saloons. One of them is Admiral’s salon and the other one Officer’s salon. The vessel had originally incredible 32 cabins and 52 berths. All high ranking navy officers of that time served on the VIS yacht. Other than this, she welcomed numerous world renowned personalities from the show-business and the politics likewise. This included members of the British Royal Family on number of occasions.
2pixel studio and the investor for both projects Mr. Arsen Brajkovic are proud to have the opportunity to preserve two marking ships of that era, such as the yacht VIS and yacht NIHTO. They will endeavour giving them a new meaning and life. The vessels will be reborn as wonderful charter yachts due to their marketing advantages and quality of build.
