Ocean Yacht Systems Ltd (OYS) has signed a contract with the respected New Zealand builder, Yachting Developments Ltd. This will see the company install their technically advanced thrusters on super yacht Hull 1012. Currently under construction, sailing yacht Hull 1012 is scheduled for delivery in early 2016.
OYS will design, engineer and manufacture two hydraulic 48hp vertical retracting thrusters for luxury yacht hull 1012, a 33.5m performance cruising sloop. This latest build has been designed by Frers Naval Architecture and is being built by Yachting Developments based in Auckland, New Zealand.
“We have a really good relationship with Yachting Developments Ltd, and we were delighted to hear they were building a new 33.5m design and that our equipment would be installed,” commented Mark Barwell Sales Director at Ocean Yacht Systems. “We last worked with the team in Auckland on the award winning superyacht Quintessential back in 2012-13, where we provided standing rigging & thrusters to the 30m catamaran.”
OYS’s retracting thruster design allows the unit to fully retract into the hull, leaving a completely fair hull with minimal drag. All hydraulic hoses and connectors are encased inside the unit and the hull so they are not subjected to the open water and the environment. The thruster has excellent torque from start up with high overall efficiency from such a compact design.
“We are pleased to be working with the team at OYS once again, having successfully collaborated with them in the past,” said Ian Cook, Managing Director of Yachting Developments. “Work on Hull 1012 is progressing well, and we look forward to seeing her in the water.”
