YCCS Virgin Gorda
Superyacht construction has grown significantly and steadily over the past 12 years, and the number of these superb vessels cruising the world’s oceans has never been greater. When seeking a home base, location is a critical consideration for superyacht owners. Finding berths designed to meet the unique requirements of these yachts is extremely difficult, particularly in the British Virgin Islands where no facilities currently exist.
With the opening of the new Yacht Club Costa Smeralda on the far northeastern tip of Virgin Gorda, the British Virgin Islands will have an elegant, but intimate, clubhouse and state-of-the-art marina with total dockage of 762 meters (2,500 ft.), capable of accommodating yachts up to 100 meters in size (328 ft.). The Club and Marina, developed in partnership with Victor International Corporation, will be linked to the Oil Nut Bay Resort Community and Beach Club as well as Biras Creek Resort (a Relais and Chateau property). Victor International is an internationally respected luxury real estate developer with a commitment to creating unique sustainable environments that exist in harmony with nature.
YCCS is renowned for organizing international sailing events. Its vision of creating a dynamic event venue in the new Virgin Gorda location begins with the Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous on March 16-20, 2011. This will be followed by the Transatlantic Superyacht Regatta that begins in Tenerife in late November 2011 and will finish in the BVI’s during first two weeks of December 2011.
In addition to an exceptionally beautiful and secure homeport, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda provides a variety of convenient services designed specifically to serve the yachting community:
There will be an on-site customs service enabling yachts to enter the British Virgin Islands at the YCCS marina.
The club itself will include a reception area, club room, dining room and an outside bar overlooking the swimming pool with a stunning view of North Sound.
There will be inside and outside dining services capable of hosting up to 150 guests and 300 guests for events. The Club’s concierge yacht service will offer catering for visiting yachts.
An events lawn integrated into the landscape below the clubhouse will have infrastructure that provides for all on-shore functions related to major sailing events.
