The first day of the 34th America’s Cup, September 7, 2013, will be marked by the NZ Superyacht Day, an exclusive private charter event, showcasing five award-winning New Zealand superyacht companies. These companies will lead a private program, providing new insights on their individualized approaches to manufacturing as well as capabilities, together with current superyacht innovation and trends, to be introduced by world-renowned superyacht designer, Ed Dubois.
New Zealand superyacht builders are recognized globally for their craftsmanship, focus on engineering and aesthetic requirements, and customer-focused, individualized approach. During the New Zealand Superyacht Day some of the most influential members of the superyacht community will share their insights with invited guests while they enjoy on-the-water viewing of the first day of America’s Cup racing, and a traditional Kiwi-style BBQ and craft beer tasting.
Some of the most influential members of the superyacht community are participating in the New Zealand Superyacht Day, including Alloy Yachts, Events Clothing, Fitzroy Yachts, McMullen & Wing, and Southern Spars.
Alloy Yachts. With 28 years of experience, Alloy Yachts is synonymous with luxury, seaworthiness, engineering excellence and craftsmanship. Alloy’s passion for their craft is reflected in the award-winning standards and international recognition of their yachts. Earlier this year their motor yacht Loretta Anne motor yacht was awarded World Superyacht Awards’ Motor Yacht of the Year and Raised Pilothouse Semi-displacement Motor Yacht awards. In 2012 their Vertigo ketch yacht was awarded the International Superyacht Society Award, Best Sailing Yacht over 40m, World Superyacht Award, Sailing Yacht of the Year, and Best Sailing Yacht 40m and over. Vertigo also won awards for Exterior Design and Styling, Interior Layout, and Recreational Space designed for Guest Use at the Show Boats Design Award program, and won the Prix du Design Award at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Events Clothing. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, with a European office in Palma de Mallorca in Spain Events Clothing design, manufacture and supply innovative, quality uniforms for superyacht and race crews around the globe. Clients include 60 of the top 200 superyachts, by size, currently in operation. Offering bespoke uniforms in styles exclusive to clients’ requirements, Events Clothing design and submit visual story boards to clients for discussion and confirmation. This process allows owners, captains, CEO’s and interested parties to ensure the exact look and feel is ultimately achieved. Fitzroy Yachts. Fitzroy Yachts started building their first yacht, the 80 foot Spirit of Fitzroy, in 1997. The company has continued with an impressive range of multi-award winning superyachts. Based in New Zealand, one of the world’s great sailing nations, they have access to outstanding marine building talent and technology. Fitzroy Yachts’ 2010 launch superyacht Zefira won the Best Sailing Yacht 45m+ and Sailing Yacht of the Year in the 2011 World Superyacht Awards. She also won the exterior design and styling and crew and service areas in the Show Boats Design Awards. Fitzroy’s latest launch luxury yacht Ohana was a finalist in both the 2013 World Superyacht Awards and the Show Boats Design Awards in the Sailing Yachts category for Exterior Design and Styling Award, Naval Architecture and Interior Layout Award. Since then the company has pursued a passion for delivering world class cruising and racing spars, carbon rigging and service.
