Motor catamaran THE BEAST, currently New Zealand‘s largest new build luxury yacht, is nearing completion and will enter the world of luxury charter market in New Zealand and other South Pacific destinations including Fiji, French Polynesia and New Caledonia following her launch later in February.
The 39.5m/129ft luxury yacht was moved in two pieces from the inland ProFab facilities at Palmerston North to Foxton Beach. Now that the hull and superstructure have been welded together, her launch is expected at the end of the month, after which sea trials will begin.
Featuring the naval architecture of LOMOcean Design, superyacht THE BEAST belongs to the ex-Owner of the award-winning Alloy Yachts luxury yacht AKIKO (ex.VvS1) and displays some of the same characteristics in its sturdy exterior.
The broad beam of 13m/42.6ft and a total interior volume of 493 GRT provides spacious accommodation to sleep 12 guests and 10 crew. The interiors and deck will provide lavish facilities for guest comfort and entertainment, with innovative features for this length including an extended cruising range as well as a 13m/42.6ft fully-equipped game fishing vessel stored on deck along with a 9m/29.5ft amphibious tender.
M/Y THE BEAST is designed as the ultimate adventure catamaran and has equipment installed for diving expeditions, fishing charters and research and exploration missions. The shallower draft produced by the catamaran hull allows for deeper exploration of remote atolls and reefs.
Delivery is expected at the end of March, after which she will enter the New Zealand and South Pacific charter market in June 2019, with her first destination expected to be French Polynesia.
