Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, natural beauty and as a fantastic destination for adventurous travellers, New Zealand was represented by Tourism New Zealand and Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) at the recently held 2015 Singapore Yacht Show. Both, TNZ and ATEED have taken the opportunity to showcase this unique destination to the luxury superyacht owners, professionals as well as yacht charterers seeking new and exciting destinations to explore.

Tourism New Zealand at Singapore Yacht Show

Singapore Yacht Show is a leading luxury lifestyle event in the Asia Pacific region and a valuable platform for many companies, associations and organisations from the marketing point of view. New Zealand’s debut at the show was marked by Tourism New Zealand attending the Asia Pacific Conference on 21 and 22 April, at Singapore’s ONE°15 Marina Club, where they sponsored two networking lunches. During the conference Tourism New Zealand used a speaking slot highlighting various attractions and opportunities for visitors coming to New Zealand aboard luxury super yachts, provided superyacht cruising information as well as presented TNZ’s luxury yacht The Big Blue video.

Steven Dixon, Tourism New Zealand’s Regional Manager for South and South East Asia, said: “The wider Asian region is a popular cruising ground and, with New Zealand and the Pacific a logical onward destination for superyachts, there is huge potential to attract yachts to New Zealand from the region.”

Launched in 2014, the Destination New Zealand Superyacht Attraction Initiative has achieved excellent results, with two fantastic seasons in a row for New Zealand as a superyacht destination and yacht charter destination. The 2014/2015 season attracted 57 yachts to New Zealand, which represents the highest number to visit New Zealand since the America’s Cup held in 2000.

“Each visiting superyacht represents over one million dollars in economic impact, making the overall benefit to the country hugely significant.”

The New Zealand stand at the show was created to attract superyacht owners, yacht charterers and other yachting enthusiasts, and was used as a base for appointments, meetings and discussions related to New Zealand yacht charter, private superyacht cruising and luxury tourism in general.
