The prominent Italian design studio, Zuccon International Project, closed the year 2012 with the November 17 launch of the 60-metre CRN motor yacht “J’Ade”, and started the year 2013 with another new development: the January 12 launch of the 80-metre CRN mega yacht “Chopi Chopi”, in Ancona. “Chopi Chopi” as well as “J’Ade” represent a new Zuccon project: the Zuccon Superyacht Design brand. The company has created this new division to concentrate exclusively on the study and customisation of new maxi yacht projects.
Only weeks after the launch of the 60 metre superyacht J’Ade, Zuccon and CRN are celebrating another success together. On Saturday, January 12, at a big event in Ancona involving the city and the surrounding area as well as the yachting and business communities, they launched the long-awaited 80 metre mega yacht “Chopi Chopi”, CRN hull number 129.
This historic milestone is a source of great satisfaction for the Ferretti Group shipyard and Zuccon International Project (ZIP), for “Chopi Chopi” is the biggest yacht ever built in the Ancona shipyard, and one of the biggest to be made in any Italian shipyard; it is also the biggest maxi yacht Zuccon has designed so far. Last but not least of the studio’s mega yachts, the new 80 m vessel represents the continuation of a long path that has seen Zuccon design numerous large yachts in recent years.
Zuccon International Project began designing maxi yachts with the 46 m yacht Al Fahedi back in 1986, built of steel and aluminium in the Baglietto shipyard in Varazze, followed by various other projects working on yachts of different sizes which have added to the Roman studio’s yacht design experience.
The studio has worked more and more often on projects on this scale in recent years, primarily with the CRN shipyard in Ancona, which has built many of Zuccon’s projects – such as the 60 m superyacht Blu Eyes, the 43 m motor yacht Lady Trudy or the 60 m megayacht Darling’s Danama, to mention only a few of the most recent projects, and is currently working on completion of five superyachts: in addition to the 80 metre Chopi Chopi and the 60 m “J’Ade” (CRN 125), it has the 74 metre yacht CRN 131 and two 43 m semi-displacing yachts under construction.
Implementation of these ambitious projects is the result of a very successful partnership which goes back many years between Zuccon and CRN. Seen in perspective, Zuccon International Project’s strong focus on the “megayacht” segment has even more to say about the studio’s future.
Now that it is working more frequently on big boats, the Roman studio has decided to usher in the year 2013 with the launch of a new brand: Zuccon SuperYacht Design. Zuccon International Project or ZIP already had a division concerned primarily with large yachts, but the establishment of Zuccon SuperYacht Design gives a further boost to this field of work, while maintaining strong ties with the brand’s history, tradition and design heritage.
SYD has a very specific mission putting to work the experience and know-how it has accumulated over decades of work for Italian and international shipyards. The new brand, ZSYD or Zuccon SuperYachtDesign, has a simple structure reflecting two very important values: continuity and innovation.
Zuccon SuperYacht Design will be primarily under the responsibility of the new generation in the studio, Martina and Bernardo Zuccon, the daughter and son of the studio’s founders, architects who have played an active role in the family-run yacht design studio for many years now. The new generation marks the start of a new history, drawing on the traditions of the past and experimentation for the future!
